A shopping centre in Sydney’s ever expanding North West is undergoing redevelopment which will see it become the
second biggest retail centre in Australia.
Project Surveyors were engaged to prepare a survey accurate architectural and structural revit model of the existing
centre encompassing approximately 375 000 square meters or 4 million sq feet.
SCANNING & DATA PROCESSING
The building was scanned throughout using Leica C10 & P20 Laser Scanners, and a Leica TS 15 was used to establish
survey control. A Leica Nova MS50 was also used in control and producing 'windowed' scans. Point Cloud data bases were
established for external scans as well as scans for each level.
It took 3700 scans and 55 site days to fully scan the building. Leica Cyclone 9.0 was used to clean and register the point
clouds and also publish Truview images.
Revit 2014 was used to model Architecture elements, while the features of Revit MEP was used to create pipes, plant, ducts, and
other services to create a partial MEP model in some of the loading docks.
It took a team working in collaboration on Architecture and MEP models, 120 office days to complete the model. The client also
wanted the recap pointcloud files along with truview imagery as a deliverables.
