Event Date: 10/11/2011
Presenter: David Philp, Head of BIM Implementation, Cabinet Office Whitehall
The Building Information Modelling (BIM) revolution has been on the front pages of most trade journals for the last two years, although BIM is by no way new, the current competitive landscape and the new to drive better efficiencies is accelerating the adoption of BIM and a shift towards greater collaboration and more efficiency in approach.
Following the publication of the UK Government's Construction Strategy and the need for industry reform throughout the project lifecycle it was clear that B.I.M. will become an important part of how we work in the future.
As this tipping point in our industry is realised David Philp, the Cabinet Office, Head of BIM Implementation and Balfour Beatty's BIM Programme Director will be defining BIM, its potential ROI and the business benefits at all stages in the asset life cycle and the importance of creating intelligent data sets that will realise optimally performing assets.
David will also explore Central Government's plan to realise Level 2 Collaborative BIM by 2016, the challenges and what industry needs to do in order to get ready in terms of: project procurement, delivery and asset operation & maintenance and most importantly behavioural change.
This event is supported by the Energy Institute and Construction Scotland.
